Life's journey.
Life is not gentle - far from it. From time to time, it will hand you disappointment, grief, loss, a formidable difficulty, often when least expected. But never forget you can surmount the worst it brings, keep on going, and make your way up again. You will find that you are stronger and maybe better off for having had some bad experience. No matter what has happened to a person, that individual still has within vast undamaged areas. Nature always tries to repair, so don't be discouraged when you suffer a blow - Norman Vincent Peale

March 23, 2007

Just thought I jot down some activities of my past week below so that I could relish in these happy moments in the future.

Last Wednesday, 14th March 07, two of our counterparts/vendor from the Netherlands (KPN), Mel & Erik came down for a visit to discuss business. Yea of course we discussed business but it doesn't really interest me as much as going towards solving my problem. However, it did make me better understand the structure of both companies as well as the different personalities and working habits of different people. I also found out that they are Americans instead of Dutchs. Interesting ya? Just that they work for a Netherlands company and are based over there.

Anyways, after that me and one of my colleague, Weng Fook joined the two KPN fellows for lunch. The rest of my colleagues couldn't be bothered to join or didn't want to mix business with leisure so whatever. Anyways, these americans are really easy people to talk to and can talk just about anything. The two of them also look really chummy together, you would never have guessed one of them is married and the other has a bf. We got on well and made plans for dinner later that night. Apparently, our account manger from Singtel, Christine will be joining us so cheers ;)

Later that evening, Mel called me on my mobile and informed me that we will be having dinner at Vivocity. So I thought cool, since I've never been there before simply because it's too crowded. Yep, so I waited and waited for my colleague to finish his conference call since he has this tendency to call people up really late. Then we made our way there. Vivocity is a really nice place , everywhere is so new and spacious. Just wish I had more to look around but we were already late, like 8.45pm when we reached.

Met Christine, Mel and Erik at Sushi Tel. Mel look really gorgeous when she's causally dressed. She looks really HOT. Man, you must be thinking I'm les or something but it's the truth, if only you were there to see it for yourself. Blue eyes, brunette and a damn attractive personality, no wonder she can afford to change bfs like tissue paper. Christine is really gorgeous when she dresses up too. Met her once on one of her friendly visit to pass us some stuff. But today, she's dressed business-like. In case you guys are wondering, I'll just describe Erik a little. He really tall, like 1.9 or maybe even taller. I can't tell cause there ain't many Singaporeans guys that tall. Well, he's blond and has blue eyes. Duh, he's an american!

Mel and Christine did the ordering and man they ordered so much food, it could have fed 8 people. But Mel is a big eater so that balances it out ;) Chatted casually. Learned that Mel loves the cartoon Dilbert so much and she had so much fun portraying the character we couldn't stop laughing. Drank Japanese beer. Can't remembered what it's called but it's good.

Finished dinner about 10 plus. Erik said he wanted to sing so we made out way to St. James after that. It's relatively near. We managed to get in without paying as my colleague knew someone there.. Cool :) Drank somemore. Then we browse through the various themed rooms and ended up in the room which plays Latin- America music.. Well, Mel likes it. She's like the one happily dancing away. We chilled out, watching Mel dance and waited for Erik to finish his extremely large glass of beer. Left the place around 1am. Aargh, it's like I have work the next day.

The next day, I went to work looking like a dead fish. I'm like so tired and probably only had like 3 plus hours of sleep. Couldn't keep myself awake and more so couldn't wait for the day to end. Later that day, one of my french colleague asked me out for dinner that so I thought okay, since it's after work already and I felt really bad rejecting him the previous night.

Cab down to Robbertsen Walk after work. He introduced me to this nice warm and cosy place called the Corner Stone. It's a wine restaurant so I supposed people usually come to such places after their dinner or something. But for French people, it's different. They like to have a light dinner and love to have wine to go with it. The restaurant has a candle holder on each table and it really creates the ambience for a romantic dinner or some private time for a couple. It's my first candle light dinner so it's really special. It's really nice actually :) It's no surprise people say French guys are such romantics.

I let him ordered the wine since I wouldn't know where to start anyways. He ordered a red wine. We had two other side orders: Fish Fillet and the Spring Rolls. The fish fillet was really good and I love the salad and mayo macaroni that comes with the spring rolls. We spent some time chatting, learning more about each other. Sometimes, I'm surprised how much more he knows about Singapore than myself and how much more knowledgeable he is. Well he's older and is more well-travelled than I am, so these are life experiences I couldn't have gained yet.

There's this french song playing in the background while we eat and chat and it sounds really nice soothing to me, so I asked him: What's this song playing in the background?
Him: You liked it?
Me: Yea, it's nice.. what's the title?
Him: I can't remember.. it's a love song actually
Me: So what does it says?
Him: Well it's disgusting actually.. they are describing themselves making love to each other
Me: Oh

It's funny how even when he says the word disgusting, it doesn't sound the least bit disgusting at all. Well, it you happen to know this song, i'll be interested to know the title. It's a duet between a man and a women and it's rather old. The singers have passed on apparently.

Okay and then we drank and drank somemore. He drank most of it actually, almost the whole bottle. I only had like a third or maybe even less and I felt really hot after that. Must have been my blood circulating. He still sugguested having another drink after that, called the Cognac. Lucky they didn't have it or I probably couldn't have made it back home without being appearing so obviously drunk. In fact, I've never been so drunk before. I could hardly walk in a straight line after I left the place. Not sure if he didn't noticed or pretended not to notice. Anyways, we shared a cab back and he saw me home before heading back, even though it's like totally out of the way. Really appreciate the gesture. It's been a long time since anymore saw me home. I had a good sleep that night. Red wine indeed promotes good sleep :)
